What is Short-Term Disability?

A type of coverage that replaces a portion of your income if injury or illness prevents you from working for a short period of time. It provides financial security for you and any loved ones who may depend on your ability to earn a paycheck. You may also hear disability insurance referred to as disability income insurance or income protection.

Plan Rules for Short-Term Disability: 

  • Eligibility: Eligible full-time employees working 20+ hours per week

  • Coverage through Mutual of Omaha

  • Employee must be actively at work on the effective date

  • ​Must use sick leave in conjunction with disability

  • Pays in-addition to sick leave above 100% of pre-disability earnings

  • No health questions EVERY YEAR!

A type of coverage that replaces a portion of your income if injury or illness prevents you from working for a long period of time, up to Social Security Normal Retirement Age. It provides financial security for you and any loved ones who may depend on your ability to earn a paycheck. You may also hear disability insurance referred to as disability income insurance or income protection.

Plan Rules for Long-Term Disability: 

  • Eligibility: All full-time employees working 20+ hours per week

  • Coverage through Mutual of Omaha

  • Employee must be actively at work on the effective date

  • Must use sick leave in conjunction with disability

  • No health questions EVERY YEAR!

  • Does not pay in-addition to sick leave
